πββοΈ From Big Swim to Bigger Purpose: The Journey Continues
In July, I completed my Big Swim - I swam a total of 10.25km throughout the month. A journey that was as much about mindset, breath, and heart as it was about stroke and distance.
Every stroke through the pool reminded me: we are always in motion, even when it feels still. We are always capable of more, even when we feel small.
Swimming, for me, is more than a sport. Itβs meditation in motion. A returning home. A soul-deep remembering of trust, surrender, rhythm, and breath.
π That journey taught me:
* The body holds wisdom, and we can always return to strength - one breath, one length at a time.
* The water listens β to our stories, our grief, our power.
* We can meet ourselves with love in every stroke, even in the moments we want to quit.
Now, a new chapter begins:
I will be applying to become a swim teacher.
It just makes sense.
To share my love for the water, to teach others not just how to swim, but how to trust the water. To feel safe. Free. Strong. Joyful. What greater gift than to serve?
π« As I prepare for this next step, I also return to my own practice:
* Perfecting the tumble turn and dolphin kick (still a work in progress!)
* Increasing endurance and strength, in and out of the pool.
* Honoring mindset, because the water mirrors what we bring into it.
This feels like a full circle moment - from the Big Swim, to story-sharing on The Creative Soul Podcast, to weaving healing and movement into the lives of others. Even the Wise Weeping Willow would smile at the quiet strength in this transition.
To anyone on a threshold of change: trust what feels aligned. Let your heart lead. Your next step doesnβt need to be loud, it just needs to feel true.
Hereβs to swimming forward, with purpose, presence, and a whole lot of love.

About this blog

I'm Aley Young, the heart behind this blog.
A soft, grounded space where healing, personal growth, real food, and gentle truth meet.
This is my living journal - a place where I share the moments, lessons, and inner shifts that have shaped my own journey, from nervous system healing and regulation to motherhood, identity, and becoming alongside the slower, earthier parts of life: the garden, the sourdough starter, the kitchen.
I'm a multi-passionate person, so you'll find writing here on whatever's actually inspiring me - that might be ancestral healing one week and something I learned from my swim training the next. I look at all of it through the same lens: as a healer, someone deeply connected, intuitive, and grounded.
From slow living and mindfulness, to rebuilding self-trust and reconnecting with your intuition, to companion planting and everyday baking - this is where I write the things I once needed to hear, and the things I've learned along the way.
Every piece here is an invitation to soften, breathe, and reconnect with who you're becoming.
This is a space for personal growth and real, grounded living, where you're supported in feeling seen and less alone as you rebuild yourself from the inside out.
Move slowly.
Begin wherever your heart lands.
