๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ Getting Fitter, Faster, and Further โ€“ One Swim at a Time ๐Ÿ’ช

SHARE

This morning's swim was exactly what I needed - challenging, empowering, and deeply rewarding.

I swam 2 km in 49 minutes, and the best part?

โžก๏ธ I swam further AND faster than I did earlier this week! ๐Ÿ™Œ

On Monday, I completed 1.75 km in 52 minutes, which already felt like a big win. But today, just three days later, I covered more ground and shaved 13 minutes off my 1 km pace. Progress, not perfection - and today, it felt like both. ๐Ÿ’–

Was it all smooth sailing (or swimming)? Not exactly! ๐Ÿ˜„

I shared a lane today, and like any swimmer will tell you - not all lane shares are created equal. Some people glide along with you. Others, wellโ€ฆ bring a little โ€œlane rageโ€ into the water. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But hereโ€™s what I noticed today:

Even though I felt the push and pull of other peopleโ€™s energy, my awareness kicked in so much faster. I could feel it affect me, but I didnโ€™t stay there. I realigned, focused on my pace, and kept swimming. ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

Afterwards, I was starving - naturally! Sushi became my early lunch/post-swim snack. ๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿ’•

๐ŸŒŠ Why I'm Swimming

Did you know this training is part of a much bigger goal?

In June, Iโ€™m swimming 20 km for The BigSwim to raise funds for Coastguard - an organisation that saves lives at sea and supports countless families. ๐Ÿšคโค๏ธ

This journey isnโ€™t just about physical endurance, itโ€™s about mindset, resilience, and doing my bit for something bigger than me. Itโ€™s about showing up, even on the tough days, and recognizing that progress happens stroke by stroke.

๐Ÿ’™ Want to Support or Follow Along?

If youโ€™d love to support the cause or cheer me on as I build towards the Big 20km, Iโ€™ve popped all the details in the comments below (or you can find the link on my BigSwim page!).

Together, we can make waves โ€” for ourselves and for others. ๐ŸŒŠ

Thank you for being here with me on this journey.

With love,

Aley x

An update about this blog

I'm Aley Young, the heart behind this blog.

It was a soft, grounded space where healing, personal growth, real food, and gentle truth meet.

A living journal - a place where I shared the moments, lessons, and inner shifts that have shaped my own journey, from nervous system healing and regulation to motherhood, identity, and becoming alongside the slower, earthier parts of life: the garden, the sourdough starter, the kitchen.

But now it is retired ...

Thank you for being here - some of you for years now.

After a lot of reflection, I've decided to step back from this chapter and follow a new calling: natural gardening. It's where my heart is right now, and I want to give it everything.

But nothing here is disappearing.

- The courses are still here - log in anytime with your existing account.

- The blog is still up to read, and the podcast is still here to listen to, whenever you like.

- Nothing is being taken away. I'm just not adding to it anymore.

If you've walked through this content with me, thank you. Truly. It mattered.

And if you're curious where I'm headed next - into the soil, into growing things, into a slower and simpler kind of healing - I'd love for you to come along.
